We are seeking a talented and experienced Hard Surface Prop Artist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of hard surface 3D asset creation, texturing, and integration within Unreal Engine 5. We are specifically looking for hard surface artists who are comfortable working in a Cassette Futurism style.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director, Lead Artist, Designers, and other team members to create high-quality, visually appealing hard surface props for our narrative FPS RPG

  • Have a strong design eye and be able to fill in the gaps for hard surface props in a Cassette Futurism style

  • Maintain a consistent art style for hard surface assets throughout the game

  • Create hard surface 3D assets, textures, and materials using industry-standard tools such as Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Photoshop

  • Work with the Lead Artist and Tech Artists to get props into engine

  • Optimise hard surface assets for performance and visual quality within Unreal Engine 5

  • Participate in regular team meetings and provide progress updates on asset creation

  • Proactively seek feedback and iterate on your work to meet the project's artistic and technical requirements

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in hard surface prop art and Unreal Engine 5

Qualifications:

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating a diverse range of high-quality hard surface 3D assets and textures, preferably weapons and vehicles.

  • Strong understanding of composition, proportion and colour theory

  • In-depth knowledge of industry-standard 3D modelling and texturing tools such as Blender, Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Photoshop

  • Solid understanding of game art pipelines and workflows, including, UV mapping, and PBR texturing

  • Familiarity with narrative FPS RPGs and their unique artistic requirements, such as reusability and variation

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively

  • Passion for video games, particularly FPS RPGs, and a strong understanding of player expectations in the genre 

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in an indie game studio

  • Proficiency in using Unreal Engine 5 for asset integration, material creation, and performance optimization

  • Unreal Shader knowledge

  • Familiarity with environment art and level design principles

  • Experience with Houdini, Unreal Blueprints or Blender’s Geometry Nodes

  • Bachelor's degree in art, design, or a related field
